Description: l-5 Hydroxytryptophan is the precursor to seratonin, a mood and appetite regulating neurotransmitter produced within the body. It has been combined with Vitamin C and Vitamin B6, an important cofactor in the conversion to seratonin. Nature"s Way uses natural l-5 HTP extracted from Griffonia simplicfolia beans produced in easy-to-swallow, enteric-coated tablets to minimize any potential gastric discomfort.
Ingredients: Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCl), and 5-HTP (l-5-Hydroxtryptophan). Other ingredients: Cellulose, Maltodextrin, Modified cellulose gum, Stearic acid, and Aqueous Coating Solution.
Additional Ingredients: Cellulose, Maltodextrin, Modified Cellulose Gum, Stearic Acid, Silica, Aqueous Coating Solution.
Dosage: Use under the guidance of a healthcare practitioner. Start with a low dose of one tablet (50mg) taken daily with a meal. Increase the dose slowly (every 3-5 days) up to a maximum of four tablets taken daily (200mg). Total daily intake should be divided into two or more doses, with not more than two tablets per dose.
Cautions: This product should not be consumed by children or by pregnant or lactating women. Some may experience gastrointestinal (GI) upset, diarrhea or nausea while taking this product which usually disappears by reducing dosage or is minimized by taking with food. As with any supplement, if discomfort persists discontinue use. Those suffering from gut disorders such as ulcers, irritable bowel disease, Crohn's disease, celiac disease, etc., should not use 5-HTP. Those using MAO-inhibitors, antidepressants and drugs containing (fenfluramine) should not use 5-HTP. May cause drowsiness. Do not use while driving or operating heavy equipment.
