Product Research: Wild Yam is a popular women's supplement, it was used by the native Americans to reduce discomforts associated with labor and pregnancy. Wild Yam contains a compound called diosgenin which has been used in steroidal drugs. The latin name, Dioscorea, honors the Greek physician and naturalist, Dioscorides. His first century Greek Herbal served as the chief source of information for fifteen centuries of herbalists. The common name, Wild Yam, is derived from the use of its roots as a substitute for sweet potatoes. This twining vine and root is found in rich forests from New England to Florida and was known to the Fox Indians as the great twister.
Recommend: As an addition to the daily diet, take two capsules each day. In acute situations, increase dosage to three capsules three times per day. Stop acute dosage after one week. Rest one day. Repeat if needed.
