An average serving of SPORTea contains only a trace of caffeine. This occurs naturally in Mate and Black Tea. Scientific research suggests that if small amounts of caffeine are consumed immediately prior to exertion it facilitates the release of Free Fatty Acids (FFA's) which are an important source of energy for the body. Adequate FFA release is crucial for anyone requiring maximum energy reserve utilization. A bit of caffeine also appears to be helpful for people with chronically low blood pressure. Note that SPORTea contains less that 2% caffeine, which make it lower in caffeine than most decaffeinated coffees which contains up to 3% caffeine.
