All of the herbs in our alcohol free extracts were originally extracted in USP alcohol to best capture the plants properties. The alcohol is then removed and replaced with pure kosher vegetable glycerin to provide a sweet tasting alternative to alcohol. Some fresh plant constituents, namely chlorophyll, do not dissolve well in glycerin but gather on the surface, resulting in the characteristic residue around the bottle neck and dropper. This is a sign of a high quality, highly bioactive, fresh plant extract. When shaken, these oils will temporarily disperse throughout the bottle.
