Chamomile is one of the oldest and most favorite of all herbs dating back to ancient Egyptians. It's beautiful golden center surrounded by white ray-like petals are said to have reminded them of the sun and its rays. The Egyptians revered it so highly that they called it "the plant of the sun," and dedicated it to Ra, their sun god. They believed it to possess healing powers much like that of the sun and valued it over all other herbs. Chamomile's name is derived from the Greek, chamos (ground) or kamai (on the ground) and melos (apple), in reference to its low growth and its apple blossom aroma.
