Rainbow Henna Hair Color
Reviewed by: Carol
Wonderful! (an odd little fragrance)- but works great, looks natural, and no toxic chemicals on your head or down your drain! Will be purchasing more.
So natural--who can tell?
I am a natural auburn-haired gal. I have never colored my hair with chemicals, but I like the idea of adding "oomph" to my color. This henna does the job! In fact, the highlights and natural sparkle it added to my hair were unnoticable as "fake" when I went to my stylist for a cut the next day. He made his usual comment on how great the color was--how people wish they too were born this way. Little did he know I spent pennies compared to his expensive version, and mine would NEVER show roots!
Yes, henna is a mess. Don't use your good towels. Expect to take a very very long shower rinsing out all the little dirt-like particles. But with a nice glass of wine, good music and a free evening, the results are so worth it. The "oomph" is added in and my hair feels like it had a nice long conditioning session. (Consider adding olive oil or eggs to the mix for more conditioning power.)
A great alternative to hair color
When it comes to non-natural, over the counter hair color, all of them -- no matter how mild they are supposed to be -- will open the cuticle of your hair and that kills your shiny bouncy hair and there is no way to get that back but let it grow out or go to a salon and keep coloring it. Henna, on the other hand, does not open your cuticle. It colors your hair without peroxide or chemicals and although it has a smaller range of color it will cover gray and provide you with some change. I found the more red products work better at covering gray. And it is messier than other non-natural products, so be prepared for some challenges and clean-up. Another perk: it's a whole lot cheaper.
An excellent product!
I am extremely pleased with the results of my hair color after using Light Mountain's Henna Dark Brown. It blended in those annoying strands of gray hair with my natural hair color and added some really nice highlights. Not only that, it is an excellent hair conditioner too! Most of all, it's completely natural, which is what I strive for in the products I use.
Messy procedure but well worth the results.
I am a middle-age natural redhead. My hair has faded to a copper-brown but, like many redheads, my skin is very sensitive.
Salon coloring left my scalp raw and irritated. I tried Henna as a last resort. The procedure is messy - allow several hours to do this your first time - but my hair looks wonderful! The gray at the temples is gone, my hair is soft and shiny and, best of all, my auburn color is back! The coloring is very natural and I did not experience any scalp irritation. [Though I smell a bit like mowed grass right now!] Thanks, MotherNature. I'll be back!
