Anti-protozoal drugs, including amebicides, are used to kill parasites that infect the intestines, the male and female reproductive tract, or the entire body. Anti-protozoals treat diseases such as intestinal amebiasis (amebic dysentery), trichomosiasis, malaria, toxoplasmosis, cryptosporidiosis, pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, and giardiasis.
